T20 World Cup Preview

Published by Shane Warne

It will be interesting to see who are the most diversely talented cricketers, who are T20 specialists and who are stars in other formats but can’t quite lift their work rate to the required level in this format.

Players like Kallis, Steyn, Devilliers, Watson, Gayle, Vettori, Gambhir, Dhoni and Pietersen have shown they can be stars in all formats and I think they will continue to shine.

Players like Warner, Yousuf Pathan, Raina and Afridi have made a name for themselves in short form cricket and I am looking for them to really lead the way in this tournament.

Other players such as my mate Michael Clark, Sangakarra, Chanderpaul, M Hussey and Haddin are yet to prove themselves in this format. Will they in this tournament??

Personally, I would prefer to let things unfold and see you does and doesn't, rather than making any bold statements on this, as they are all great cricketers who have the ability to make the transition.

T20 is fast becoming a major part of the cricketing landscape and those that come up short in this tournament may find it a long road back to be seen as a star of this format.

With the riches now on offer as a T20 player, and the IPL franchises starting to work on who they want to buy at the next auction, this tournament becomes extremely important for the players to play their way into a big contract.

Good luck everyone, I have my notepad next to the TV!!
