Questions of the week

Published by Shane Warne

How to improve your leg spin bowling consistently

I have been receiving a lot of questions in regards to improving bowling consistency over the past few weeks; unfortunately there are no easy answers.

The best way is to practice and then practice some more! There is a master class in my video gallery that can help you make sure you are using my favoured grip and technique, then it is just a matter of spending the time required to improve.

Everyone is different so I can’t really say how long it should take but you will know when you are getting better.

I use to put a handkerchief on the pitch and try and land the ball on it. It is also good to make sure you move it around into the right position for different balls and try and land each type of deliver in the right spots.

And do it each day - give yourself a target - hit a ball or a handkerchief at least twice then next week - 3 times and so on.

If you want to improve as a cricketer - there is no substitute for hard work - you have to practice all 3 basics of the game Batting, bowling and fielding.

Riots in England

It was horrible to see the idiotic behaviour re the riots over here in the UK.

I really felt for the police who were helpless and all the small business owners whom lost everything and were not covered by insurance.

I realise people are doing it tough and wanted to vent their frustrations but this wasn’t the answer…. The mobs only inflicting more pain on others that are suffering as well!

Australia v Sri Lanka

It wasn’t a great start to Sri Lankan series but nice to see the Aussies bounce back in the 1st ODI

I think it is important for Australia to win the 1 day series and have the momentum leading into the crucial test series. A lot will come down to how well our batters do against the Sri Lankan spinners, Clarkey will be a key.

I'm a young leg spinner from India. I frequently draw a circle in the pitch and try to bowl it on that. However i THink my fitness is letting me down. What sort of exercises would you recomend to improve my spin bowling
