Bounty Poker Event

Hi Guys, I played in a bounty poker event as part of the Aussie Millions Poker Program at crown yesterday. I was looking forward to getting into a good rhythm for the main event starting Monday but it wasn’t to be.

We got to start with 10K in chips and it all started badly. I got rivered a couple of times and, before I knew it, my chip stack had been decimated to about 4K.

Things started looking up as I built my stack back up to about 6.5K through a couple of steals and good plays, even if I say so myself!!

Under the gun I looked down at AQ and was pretty happy. There had been a lot of limpers on the table so I fired in a pre-flop raise of 5 times the BB, the blinds were 75/150. With it now at 750 to go I got two callers.

One was a lady who had been playing extremely tight, probably had only played a couple of hands all day so I was a little concerned. I thought she must have had AK or not far off at least. The second was a guy playing lots of hands so it was hard to put him on anything as he was involved in most flops.

The flop came Q 5 2 . I was very happy with the Q as I thought I was ahead with it, however, I was worried about the 2 spades. Went into the tank again to try and put them on a hand and ruled out pocket 2’s and 5’s as I just didn’t think either had them. If they had a flush draw I was ahead and if I walked into K’s or A’s so be it.

I raised about the pot, 2500, to try and get rid of anyone chasing a hand and got re-raised all in by the lady and the other caller folded. I thought for a while and went with my thought process before I bet and called.

I turned over my AQ to have top pair and she turned over 55, shattered!! The turn was an 8 and was drawing dead. The river brought another Q giving me trips but her a full book and I was ejected!!

Hopefully I will go better in tonight’s celebrity tournament I am playing in or in the re-buy tournament I am playing on Friday. I want to make sure I go into the Aussie Millions, first day is Monday, with confidence.
